We intensify family planning services with a gender perspective to increase male family planning participation
PPAPP Agency Head Tuty Kusumawati encouraged husbands to actively participate in the implementation of the family planning program in a bid to create a quality family. One of them was as a family planning acceptor.
"We intensify family planning services with a gender perspective to increase male family planning participation. As of March 16, we have served 7 acceptors at Budhi Asih RSUD, East Jakarta and Aulia Hospital, South Jakarta," she expressed, Friday (3/19).
PPAPP Agency Has Coached 10,000 JakpreneursShe explained there were currently still many perceptions from husbands, that vasectomy or the Male Operation Method (MOP) was the same as castration. "That is wrong. This is due to the lack of understanding of these husbands which raises doubts," she explained.
According to her, the agency was continuously trying to provide communication, information and education (IEC) about vasectomy to husbands, moreover its process only took approximately 15 minutes.
"For vasectomy, we have a male family planning motivator liaison through the Male Family Planning Association to provide IEC. We also collaborate with cadres of family planning and Dasa Wisma. If they are unable to explain, prospective acceptors will be directed or brought to the Family Planning Extension (PKB) in the urban village," she continued.
She added that a quality family is a dream for all married couples and certainly cannot be separated from the gender partnership between husband and wife in household system.
"To realize it, we must be able to manage the number of pregnancies and births. It will be more likely to happen if the father or husband can participate in implementing the family planning program," she closed.
